Visual Supports for Bears & Chair
Visual supports are pictures or images that add information to verbal communication. In essence, the spoken word is paired with a picture to make it easier for a child to understand what is said or to express themselves when they can’t do so verbally.
It is especially useful when introducing new words or when the verbal message may be too long or complex for a child. It is often a temporary measure used only until a child can understand or speak without this support.
We have created a visual support for each level of the Bears & Chair kit:
Level 1. Provides images for colour and position words.
Level 2. Provides images for size, colour and position words.
Level 3. Provides images for size, colour, position and quantity words.
