Bears & Chairs Language Learning Kit
Small but mighty, the Bears & Chairs kit helps children learn early concepts such as size, colour and prepositions. Children LOVE placing the adorable bears around the chairs, making it a fun, meaningful way to practice prepositions—an important group of words that can be difficult for children to learn.
This kit also supports understanding and giving instructions, using simple sentence forms and following a sequence of steps.
For learners not quite ready for the Level 1 picture cards, simply start with cards that show fewer positions or colors and then, add more as they’re ready.

Use this kits to help children

It's easy as 1-2-3:
To work on comprehension/receptive language:
1: Pick up a card, hold it so the child can't see it, and read the sentence to them.
2: The child will arrange objects showing you exactly what they do or do not understand.
3: Reveal the card and compare it to the child's arrangement. If it matches, great! If not, provide supports to help them understand the sentence better.
To work on expressive language:
1: The child picks up a chard and describes the image.
2: The adult arranges the objects as described.
3: The card is revealed and compared to the arrangement. If the child described it accurately, great! If not, provide supports to help them say it better.
Use this kit one-one or as a small-group activity too. Simply, take turns around the table, with each child listening to the instructions and arranging the items. While one child has a turn, the others can listen, watch, and compare the arrangement with the picture card. As they become familiar with the activity, invite children to take turns giving and following instructions to practice communicating with one another.
